This course deals with the study of microorganisms as well as host defense mechanisms. It covers the morphology and physiology of bacteria, viruses, rickettsia, fungi, helminths, and protozoans of medical importance. Knowledge of their contribution to health as well as the dangers they pose to physical health is essential to an understanding of the principles by which infection is prevented and controlled.
